Botanix
Gujarat Hackathon Finalist & SIH College Level Finalist
Project Overview
Botanix is an innovative plant recognition system specifically designed for Ayurvedic plants. It combines computer vision technology with natural language processing to provide users with a complete understanding of identified plants, including their names, medicinal uses, and cultivation requirements. The project was a finalist in both the Gujarat State Hackathon and Smart India Hackathon (SIH) at the college level.
The system allows users to simply upload an image of an Ayurvedic plant, and using advanced image recognition algorithms, Botanix quickly identifies the plant. Once identified, the application provides detailed information about its uses based on Ayurvedic principles, helping users understand how to effectively utilize these plants for health benefits.
A standout feature of Botanix is its interactive chatbot, which can answer specific queries about identified plants, such as ideal growing conditions, cultivation techniques, and medicinal applications. To ensure accessibility, the application supports both English and Gujarati languages, making Ayurvedic knowledge more widely available.
The project was presented at the Gujarat Hackathon Finals in Surat, where our team traveled by college-sponsored transportation. Our research poster highlights the technical aspects of the project, including the convolutional neural network architecture that achieved over 97% accuracy in plant identification using our custom dataset.
