AI support in ecommerce: faster, and slightly worse
Only about a fifth of ecommerce brands have shipped AI support. It cuts response times ninefold and drops satisfaction by 2.4 points. A rewrite of a 2024 post that got this wrong.

I said charging for accounts would kill the bots. X tried it.
In 2024 I argued a small fee would break bot economics. X had already run that experiment, and the accounts spreading AI images turned out to be more likely to be paying subscribers.
